Roger Clemens’ son gets dad’s Hummer stolen

In a very nice play, one of Roger Clemens’ sons drove his father’s orange Hummer to his high school and left the vehicle unlocked. It took thieves just a few minutes to steal the mammoth vehicle, which was given to the Rocket by the New York Yankees as a gift commemorating his 300th career victory. Sports Illustrated reports:

School district police issued a statewide all-points bulletin statewide asking people to keep an eye out for the Hummer, which was stolen from Memorial High School at about 8:30 a.m.

It’s a bright orange Hummer, so I would think it would stand out in a crowd, especially given the press coverage that this story is getting. Koby Clemens has been driving the orange Hummer since he signed a letter of intent to play baseball for his father’s alma mater — the University of Texas — which dons burnt orange uniforms. Koby drove a black Hummer to school before that.

“I talked with Roger about it a little,” said Chuck Brawner, chief of the Spring Branch Independent School District police. “That Hummer was given to him by the New York Yankees for his 300th win.”

Brawner said Clemens, who was at spring training with the Houston Astros in Florida, is offering a $10,000 reward for the vehicle’s safe return and information about who took it. The Hummer contained all of Koby Clemens’ baseball equipment for the high school team.
