Don King sues ESPN for $2.5 billion
Yes, that’s billion with a “B”. Don King has brought suit against ESPN for $2.5 billion for defamation of character. The alleged tortious conduct was ESPN Classic’s airing of a Don King SportsCentury:
For once, Don King kept quiet.
Instead of pontificating, the boxing promoter stood stiffly in the background as his lawyer discussed [...]

In a story of particular interest to me as a fan of horse racing, J.T. Lundy was released from a Pensacola, Florida prison this week. Lundy has served four years in federal prison for his actions as the president of the greatest outfit in horse racing history, Calumet Farm. Lundy bankrupted the farm [...]

Another choke job for Stoops, White
Oklahoma has made three trips to the national title game under Bob Stoops since 2000. OU was national champion in 2000, beating an incredibly mediocre Florida State team in the title game. FSU was without its top receiver in that game and OU won a forgettable 13-2 decision to hoist the flag. [...]

Stupidity reigns in Anaheim
In one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen, the winners of the 2002 World Series, formerly known as the Anaheim Angels, have changed their name to “The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.” Yeah, that sounds great. The change is being challenged in court, hopefully it is blocked.

Down with the BCS
The BCS may be in line for yet ANOTHER makeover. It seems today everyone is criticizing the BCS, even Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) .
The Bowl Championship Series is considering changes after finding itself amidst controversy yet again — including the idea of allowing an NCAA basketball tournament-type committee to set its No. 1 vs. [...]

Baseball to Las Vegas a great idea
Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman showed up at the Major League Baseball winter meetings in Anaheim Saturday with two showgirls and an Elvis impersonator in tow. His mission: Force Bud Selig to smile. Actually he was trying to sell the idea of bringing a Major League franchise to Sin City. As expansion [...]
